storm

illustration

This piece was made to represent the phrase “facing the storm”. The storm, in this case, is a Raiju, a yokai from Japanese mythology. I wanted to blend in the Raiju’s tails into the storm itself.

I used this sketch and painted the illustration underneath it.

With the thumbnails, I wanted to find the right perspective and pose for the Raiju, as well as take care to get the right expression.

The final illustration was made to be a more thought-out version of this piece I made to mimic the loose concept art style I’d seen in art books for movies.
